The window unit is approximately 2 inches (5 centimetre) thick and can be applied in all types of window frames and doors.
In practice this window has proved its comfort and reduction in energy usage for heating, lighting and cooling.
This innovative window offers the best insulation at night with a U-value of 0.45 W/mēK. That is approximately seven times better than normal double glazing and has proved better than a well-insulated stone wall (see infrared picture).
Result: significant reduction on heating expenses with preservation of air refreshment.
During the summer this innovation offers the best protection against solar heat, and it is insensitive to weather and wind. In practice the sunheat transmission is only 4%.
Daylight
The reflector on the bottom of the frame can project a small beam of light on the ceiling. This allows the entrance of sunlight deep into the building (see picture) even when the screen is almost completely closed.
Result: reduction in lighting and cooling expenses in combination with a comfortable climate.
In open position the screen is hardly noticeable, a property highly appreciated by architects.
It has been calculated that in winter more heat is gained than lost through the window, even when it is positioned to the north.
